Happy Friday!! We present to you Ashley and Brandon’s an engagement shoot. Ashley and Brandon wanted a location that fit their personality for their engagement shoot and found the beautiful country setting they were looking for at the Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills. We really loved her ideas that she pitched to us so we went along with it. She set up a cute, simple picnic to finish the afternoon session – complete with cupcakes by Sprinkles, Lette macaroons, bride and groom forks, and some bubbles. Make up was done by Claire Harper who was very awesome and fun to work with. Special thanks to Ashley’s sister who also helped in setting up the picnic! Thanks Brandon and Ashley, we absolutely can’t wait to shoot your wedding!

My first mission is Santa Barbara. It’s going to be a little personal project of mine to travel to and shoot all the the Missions in CA. I just love the history and beautiful Spanish architecture – yea, I’m nerd like that. Anyhow, hope you enjoy them!

A Weekend at Catalina Island

Not too long ago, a buddy of mine invited me to a trip to Avalon to visit some friends of ours that live out there. We usually don’t get to experience a trip like this so I agreed to go. I’ve been to Catalina Island a few times before, but I have never set foot on the island because I was fishing on a boat during those times.

When the day of departure arrived, the weather was nice and sunny. Once we got to the island we immediately dropped our gear off at our friend’s house and began exploring Avalon. For those that have yet to visit Avalon, there are some things about the town that I really liked. First, everything is within walking distance. Second, I loved the the historic design of the buildings; I would say that it is similar to Santa Barbara, but with the tiny-town feel to it where everyone knows everyone. In fact,we went to a seafood restaurant that evening where the hostesses knew my friends that lived in Avalon.

The next day we all woke up just before 10AM but by the time the rest of the guys got ready it was too late to get any breakfast plates. We ended up grabbing some pretty tasty fish and chips at a restaurant on the pier we saw the day before. Shortly after we stopped by the store to get some supplies and we were off to Shark Harbor for some awesome beach camping followed by some more exploring around the island the day afterwards.

All in all, the weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. I would definitely go back there again if I had the chance. This was the first time I’ve shot film, and almost all the shots were done on film. The only ones not done in film are the sunset beach, airport, and night time shots. The film I used was UltraColor 400 and T-Max 400 for the black and whites. Film was processed at Richard Photo Lab, then scanned at home using an Epson V500.

Slow down

I used to play with snails as a kid. Grab them by the shell, twist them off the ground, and watch its body suck itself into its shell. To be mean I’d put salt and watch them bubble up or put salt around them to see if they’d cross over.

Anyhow, snails remind me to slow down and enjoy life – that is until someone puts salt on or around you.

Farmers Market

My buddies Juano and David went for a little shoot around at the local farmers market last month. I hadn’t had the time to upload the photos so here they are. The third picture is of me scarfing down 3 tamales (which were awesome by the way and I was really hungry), that I nearly got away without being seen but thanks to David, everyone now knows I really like tamales.
